The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation (DAAFF) works with remote community Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Centres specialising textile designs and textile art, which is now included in Australia’s most prestigious art institutions, including the National Gallery of Australia. Recently, the fashion industry—nationally and internationally—has embraced Indigenous textiles as a new and exciting trend. DAAFF recently worked with 12 art centres (eight from the Northern Territory), as well as fashion designers to produce a high-end runway show in Darwin, focusing on fashion for women aged 18 to 55 years who love bold colours and vibrant textiles. Now, DAAFF has come to Canberra to showcase an inaugural fashion show at FASHFEST 2017.
DAAFF will be showcasing on closing night show 2, at 9:00pm.
