Magpie Goose, a fashion social enterprise, was founded in 2016 by Maggie McGowan and Laura Egan. The label, named after a bird native to the Top End, showcases stunning fabric designed and hand screen-printed in remote Aboriginal communities. Like its namesake, Magpie Goose is bright, bold and unapologetic. Clothing designs are simple, classic and created with natural fibres. Each piece tells a story of people, place and culture. Maggie and Laura launched Magpie Goose to create opportunities for people to connect with and celebrate Aboriginal culture through fashion. The business fosters economic empowerment by generating employment and enterprise opportunities in the communities that create the fabric. This is the label’s inaugural appearance at FASHFEST.
Magpie Goose will be showcasing on opening night show 1, at 7:00pm.
