Being sun conscious is no longer about being boring as Solar Bare takes to the runway at FASHFEST 2015.
The signature offering of Solar Bare is the ‘fashvest,’ a marriage of fashion and rash vest, where beautiful marine patterns meld with a sexy sculptured design creating stylish but practical sun protection that surpasses the monotone rash vests so often a part of our modern beach culture.
The idea for the Solar Bare label started six years’ ago on the beach at North Stradbroke Island, when designer Vivien Mitchell observed that nearly all beach goers, including mums, dads and kids, were wearing dull rash vests, usually a solid blue or black. That day, Vivien had an epiphany; there was a gap in the market as no surf or swim wear label was producing fashionable rash vests.
For the past year, Vivien has been developing her idea of designer sun wear and is set to be the first Australian label to create a range inspired by the marine environment. Her derivative artworks are digitally printed directly to her designs.
As Vivien says, these are garments that embrace ‘looking hot and feeling cool’ as well as they embrace ‘looking cool and feeling hot’.
Solar Bare is an emerging label that emulates the Australian lifestyle values of nature, innovation, beauty and fun. The launch range is for sun conscious women who want to wear beautiful, head-turning beach apparel. Solar Bare will debut at FASHFEST with the launch of its women’s summer 2015–16 collection.
Solar Bare garments are designed in Canberra and produced in Australia.
