Zilpah Tart is a label representing feminine, bright, bold, beautiful clothing and accessories, which make the wearer feel special and stand out in the crowd.
Designer Yumi Morrisey named the label after her grandmother. During a trip to Perth to go through her grandmother’s belongings after she passed away, Yumi found a 1940s brooch of a Penny Farthing which she kept as a memory. The Penny Farthing now forms Zilpah tart’s logo.
Yumi will launch her second collection at this year’s Fashfest. The collection’s garments are designed around feminine silhouettes to flatter the female form. The handbags, made from beautiful prints and colour combinations, are designed to be a statement piece for an outfit.
Zilpah Tart’s designs are not based on trends. They are created to be worn over many years and are a perfect fit for women aged 25 to 40 years—women who are professional, feminine and confident; women who appreciate Australian made products.
Yumi started her label after completing a Bachelor of Design at the Canberra Institute of Technology in 2007. After living on the Central Coast for a couple of years, she returned home to Canberra and made the decision to pursue fashion design full-time. Yumi currently designs, cuts and sews all garments, focusing on one-off pieces and limited runs of individual designs.
