Haunting the fringes between electro-minimalism and pastoral indie, Happy Axe uses violin, musical saw and vocals to create layers of sound that are beautiful, unsettling and cinematic. Happy Axe is Emma Kelly. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) from the Australian National University, Emma has performed at major festivals, including Woodford and Groovin the Moo. She attended the 2015 New York City Musical Saw Festival and was nominated best live instrumentalist in the National Live Music Awards (2016). Happy Axe has also played at the Art Not Apart and You Are Here festivals. She has toured Europe and Japan. Happy Axe will launch an album in 2017. This is Happy Axe’s debut at FASHFEST.
See Happy Axe on closing night show 2, at 9:00pm.
