I didn't really know what to expect at the Model Casting for FashFest 2014, other than it was being held in a Hotel and that a record-breaking 140+ hopefuls had signed up to strut their stuff for a chance to walk in the clothes of Canberra's designers at this year's FashFest event.

It was a beautiful thing. More than 160 models and aspiring models gathered yesterday at the East Hotel, trembling with excitement at the casting that was before them. They came from all corners of Canberra, and even from Sydney, to walk down the makeshift catwalk one step at a time, showing their style and keeping their fingers crossed they will be one of the 40 models selected for Fashfest 2014. It was the biggest model call held for a single fashion event in the nation’s capital and held for the biggest fashion event ever to be held in the nation’s capital.

This year, FASHFEST, the biggest annual fashion event in Canberra, is anticipated to be even more phenomenal than the last. As part of making that happen, the all important search is on for the models who will be walking the runways in this year’s new collections. A huge turn out of 140+ models gathered at East Hotel (a major event partner) for FASHFEST’s Model Casting yesterday, making it the biggest model casting ever held in Canberra.

160 beautiful dreamers attend Fashfest casting call

More than 160 aspiring models walked, pouted and posed on Sunday in perhaps the largest gathering of Canberra's young and beautiful in a single venue. Organisers of the try-outs for this year's Fashfest said the model calling at the East Hotel in Kingston was the biggest for a single event in the nation's capital, and the adjudicators had a difficult job as the young women - and handful of men - battled for a chance to wear the new clothes at this year's festival.

The importance of trying clothes on with Assemblage Project

Source : Vanisha's Life in Australia

I'm not big on trying on clothes. I think it is the result of being constantly disappointed when things do not fit me. I shop online a lot now and deal with sizing issues by having my tape measure handy. Last week I had the pleasure of being invited (along with Georgia from Red Magpie) to Assemblage Project to have a play with their current collection. This night completely changed my mind about trying on clothes.
