Andrea Hutchinson—Managing Director
FASHFEST was founded by Andrea and Clint Hutchinson. This husband and wife team—closely connected to the creative world through work and outside interests—relishes living in the nation’s capital and giving back to their community. Andrea, a former model from Switzerland, is also Co-founder and Modelling Director of HAUS Models, an agency with a stylish difference. For many years, Clint was the Managing Director of one of Canberra’s largest advertising agencies. Together this couple felt it was time that their city stepped forward with a red-carpet fashion event. And so FASHFEST was born.
Wendy Johnson, is a strategic communications expert. Backed by a Master’s Degree in Journalism, Wendy understands what makes media tick. Her hit rate at getting stories placed is exceptional, due to her ability to develop meaningful story ideas and communicate effectively with media. Wendy and her team gained extensive coverage of the inaugural FASHFEST and have kept the story alive ever since. They also coordinate all major strategic communications functions for the event. Wendy owns Clarity Communications Australia.
Nick Ellis is a master of logistics and has extensive experience in pulling together major fashion events of all styles. He is the smooth operator who makes operations smooth. Nick has worked on dozens of fashion events, including CIT fashion parades for more than a decade, Sustainable Threads, and a FASHFEST special event for Westfield. He has been with FASHFEST since the inaugural event.
Steve Wright is a leading fashion academic who has played various roles with FASHFEST since its inception. For more than a decade, he has produced large-scale fashion events and worked with the likes of the National Gallery of Australia, National Museum of Australia and Canberra Centre. As one half of the label Corr Blimey, Steve’s work has been seen internationally. He is currently teaching fashion design in the UK.
Director of Runway and Choreography
Susanna Ellis is cue-master and runway choreographer. With a background in coaching, theatre, dance and calisthenics, Susanna has worked backstage as an important member of the FASHFEST crew since the inaugural event. She is FASHFEST’s flight controller and is responsible for getting the models on the runway on time, looking glamorous and heading in the right direction.
Director of Music
Ashley Feraude is a Canberra-based DJ, creative consultant and music producer who operates under the alias Magnifik. He brings a love of diverse music and an immense amount of innovative entertainment experience to FASHFEST. This is Ashley’s third year as a director with the event. Ashley is assisted by Associate Director of Music, Hamish Lardi.
Creative Producer of Film
Georgina Jenkins is a writer and producer of award-winning short films, including ‘Past Imperfect’, and the documentary ‘In the Cannes’ broadcast on ABC TV. Georgina has a low-budget feature and television drama series in development. Georgina founded Canberra production house By George Studios with Robb Shaw-Velzen ACS in 1996.
Creative Director of Film
Robb Shaw-Velzen ACS, a multi-award-winning cinematographer, has travelled the globe shooting for ‘Survivor’, HBO’s ‘The Pacific’ and ‘Good Morning Britain’. He has been Director of Photography on many short films and two feature films, ‘Blue World Order’ and ‘Locks of Love: Capital L’. Robb has won 14 Australian Cinematographers Society Awards, including a coveted Golden Tripod.
Director of Photography
Leighton Hutchinson is in charge of photography at FASHFEST, coordinating the many photographers who work at the event. Leighton, who runs Leighton Hutchinson Photography, is well known for his fashion, editorial, commercial, advertising and portraiture photography. With more than 10 years behind the lens, Leighton’s masterful technique is highly respected in Canberra and beyond. Leighton is assisted by Photography Manager, Kylie Jackson.
Director of Hair
Jenni Tarrant, principal stylist, creative director and owner of multi-award winning salon Bond Hair Religion in Kingston, has more than 34 years’ experience in the hairdressing industry. Jenni has operated Bond Hair Religion for 12 years. She attended Canberra Institute of Technology, graduating with a Certificate IV in Hairdressing, Hair Styling and Hair Design. This is her first year with FASHFEST.
Creative Director of Hair
Craig Rhodes, Director of ‘A Flick of Hares‘, has been in the hair industry for more than 17 years. His portfolio includes work for GQ, Vogue and Marie Claire. He has worked on campaigns, including for Bulgari, Bonds and X Factor, and is published in international magazines. Craig has worked at New York Fashion Week since 2012 and brings his wealth of experience to FASHFEST 2016.
Director of Makeup
Diana Cheetham is a well-known freelance makeup artist. She teaches part-time at the Canberra Makeup Academy Training Group (makeup) and Capital Hairdressing Academy and Regional Training (hair). Diana has been a makeup artist with FASHFEST since the inaugural show. She leads a large team of makeup artists to ensure highly creative work and that theatrical elements are brought to each show.

Katie Saarikko has had a life-long engagement in the creative arts, including as a painter, web designer, photographer and sculptor. She graduated from the Canberra Makeup Academy Training Group as Student of the Year (2014). With a strong technical ability and intuitive understanding of colour, lighting and styling, Katie provides professional makeup services in film production, theatre and more.
Darren Russell is an expert in elite event technology. He is in charge of FASHFEST’s creative technical design, an art form in its own right. This requires managing a myriad of activities, including CAD drawings, planning seating systems, working bump in and bump out schedules, handling logistics, mixing audio and much more. Then it’s working all shows across three nights as Technical Director.
Director of Interior Design
Aaron Copeland, Director of Interior Design, is an expert with almost two decades of experience and success in the industry. He applies his professional and personal approach to FASHFEST every year. At Capezio Copeland, Aaron and his team have always advocated designing for human behaviours and the environment.
Advisor Strategy and Government Relations
David Boden is a former senior executive and manager with extensive skills and experience in the Australian Government arts arena. As Advisor of Strategy and Government Relations, David provides advice to senior members of FASHFEST on strategic development, risk management, opportunity development and government relations.
